Collective Conciousness – A sculptural response to the identity of the city

We're opening the doors to our studio with an exhibition in response to the LFA's 'Identity' theme. Located a short walk from Waterloo station, our studio is a bright and spacious converted Victorian school building which forms an inspiring backdrop for our creative work. We look forward to welcoming visitors during LFA2018.

Exhibition: Collective Consciousness

What defines the identity of the city?

The city is a tapestry of overlapping activities, events and communities. Each inhabitant helps to build the identity of the city and simultaneously, the city shapes people’s use and perception of space.

As inhabitants of Waterloo, we will be exploring our local area and its surrounding context, using individual narratives to collectively examine the identity of the city.

Each member of the practice will model a piece of townscape based on their own personal impression of that place. These models will then be pieced together to form a sculptural tapestry of the area, one which is unique to MSMR and the identities of our team.

The finished work will be displayed in our courtyard and as part of the open studios event, we’ll give a scheduled talk as introduction to it.

A selection of our projects will be on display too, with members of our team on hand to talk all things architecture.
