Identities of Play – Talk & Panel Discussion

To accompany the exhibition Identities of Play there will be a panel discussion by experts in the field on the subject of play, identity and the city.

Play is an important ingredient in identity formation as both a key element of practical creativity and as the cornerstone of imaginative role play and performance. Through real and imagined forms of play children and adults have the opportunity to develop, enrich and even transform their identities. Play is therefore essential in everyday life.

As city populations continue to increase, how we shape the identity of our shared and common spaces becomes more critical. Reimagining and rebuilding play-spaces for the 21st century can make an important contribution to how we wish to define and project our society to one another and the wider world.
