Through the Lloyds Construction Skills Centre - Building Futures Programme (in conjunction with 15BillionEBP), Year 5 Primary School Students, will get to a chance to learn all about the landscaping architecture shaping the regeneration projects across Newham, that are creating a new neighbourhood in the heart of East London. From identifying key buildings and design features, to learning about the different responsibilities of architects and planning design teams, students will explore the whole process of designing new buildings and spaces from teachers and construction professionals including architects, designers and planners. Sustainability will also be one of the key focuses of the session. They will also have a chance to brush up on their research skills as they discover a range of artists’ work and participate in a hands-on art and architecture activity. Desigining their own buildings for a new town!
Students who successfully complete all tasks in the week long project will have the opportunity to gain a Discover Arts Award, supported by Arts Council England.
