Join us at the Michaelis Boyd office garden to explore the structure of identity.
We are created from many components: from our values and beliefs to our appearance and gender, our experiences and memories.
This years brief has prompted us to look at the layered and dynamic nature of self; at our core some of these components may be more rigid and fixed, while other aspects of our identity remain open and fluid.
We will use materials and form to reflect the aspects of ourselves which are fixed to those that are more fluid and influenceable.
Our installation, In-Side-Out, is inspired by the idea that ‘self’ is a negotiation between the outside world and what is inherent. The journey transitions from open and organic walkway to a enclosed tunnel.
Afterwards, explore the office to see the work we do.
