Bow Arts, Notting Hill Genesis and artist Almudena Romero (Tate, Photographers Gallery, V&A) will lead a hoarding commission to create a new artwork in celebration of the identity of Royal Albert Wharf and its community. With a simple but striking series of photographic portraits, presented alongside a quote from each sitter about their relationship to the Royal Albert Docks, the commission creates a marker in time of the new emerging community at RAW.
Almudena will take up residence at RAW Labs later in the year as our fourth artist in residence. This project will act as a precursor to her main residency, forging relationships with the residents, RAW studio artists and RAW Labs visitors.
The project forms part of our 2018 London Festival of Architecture celebrations in the Royal Docks, and will be unveiled to coincide with the festival in late June.
