This year Olympic Park celebrates the tenth anniversary of the London 2012 Olympic Games which fittingly coincides with this year’s festival theme of ‘Act’. More than 5,000 people have actively played part in the transformation of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its fringes since the games, redefining the historic industrial and creative heartlands of Stratford and its surrounding vibrant communities into an exciting and sustainable place to live, work, study, play and visit. Today, the area is home to a rich mix of residents and businesses with the extensive parkland and adjacent waterways at the heart.
From a major concentration of artists and studio spaces in Hackney Wick and Fish Island to the new neighbourhoods, commercial spaces and a number of the world’s leading cultural and higher education organisations arriving to the east side of the Park as it continues its unique transformation over the coming years. Through a diverse programme of activities this June, the festival brings together organisations and individuals that have actively contributed to the shaping and evolution of this remarkably vibrant area of East London. By celebrating the area’s creative past, present and future including the legacy of the Olympic Games, the festival will showcase different local stories championing creativity and urban innovation at all scales.
Information on locations to pick up a printed guide to the festival will be made available soon.
