Above and Beyond – a new installation by Etcetera Studio

100 years ago the Cenotaph was revealed to the public. A timeless eternal structure, Sir Edwin Lutyens’ design traces the arc of a sphere 100m below the earth and tapers to a point 300m into the sky. It is an architecture that speaks to memory and reveals only a fragment of a much larger imagined geometry, crossing the boundaries of space, time and memory.

Playing on the notion of illusionary assemblies, this installation of a sculptural fragment transcends the gallery space, providing clues for the visitor and allowing them to imagine a space where alternative futures may be possible.

Etcetera Studio is the collaborative practice of architect Tom Parsons and artist Edward Crooks.
