Community energy puts locals at the centre of control over common community infrastructure and empowers them to collectively build a fair, green and co-operative energy system.
At this Creative Energy Club, run as a partnership between Brixton Energy Solar and Repowering London who will be facilitating – participants will:
- Learn a new creative technique, such as collage, cyanotype, light art, zine making.
- Learn about an aspect of the energy system, such as solar energy technologies or the electricity market; and how to get involved in a local community energy project.
- Produce an output for the local community in the form of exhibits, posters, flyers or objects.
In 2012 Brixton Energy Solar developed the first community-owned solar project on social housing in the UK.
This Club aimed at Brixton residents will explore how its history of activism and power (Electric Avenue was the very first street in London lit by electricity) can inspire the future of community energy in the area.
