Hsieh Ying-Chun, Tribal Architecture for the People

01 June - 30 June

After an earthquake in 1999, established architect Hsieh Ying-Chun left the world of commercial architecture, settling with Taiwan’s indigenous Thao tribe of Sun Moon Lake and devoting himself to rebuilding homes in disaster zones like Tibet and Nepal. Following Hsieh for a year, this film illustrates his belief in the approach of long-term collaborative construction and his philosophy of “Design for People”, which has developed through the years that Hsieh has worked with the aboriginal tribes in remote areas.

This event is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan, the Taiwan Public Television Service Foundation and Taipei Representative Office in the UK.
