KPF Facades – Making Processes in the Digital Age

Exploring the LFA 2019 theme of boundaries, KPF will open its doors for a making workshop open to anyone interested in the creative processes behind the design of our building facades, understood as skins that act as silent boundaries between the public realm and the built environment, defining the image of our cities.

The workshop will explore the potential of making as part of the design process, focusing on how traditional craftsmanship processes can be re-interpreted with digital fabrication. Following an introduction lecture, participants will engage with the making process by casting a façade prototype using silicone moulds and resins with different colours. The individual casts will create a larger composition that will imagine a future building skin.

The workshop will take place on the 11th of June 2019 at KPF London and is open to anyone interested in the process of making, with no previous experience is required.
