‘Re-imagining the City after the Great Fire & why the proposals never took place’

11 June 2024

10:30 -11:30

Join us for this exciting talk happening in person at Chislehurst Library.

‘It sometimes takes a catastrophe to make us change the way we do things. The Great Fire of London in 1666 gave Londoners the opportunity to completely re-design the Capital’.

Though several plans were submitted to the King & Council – none of these took place at the time. This talk considers the differences between the 5 submitted plans; explains why none of them were put into place; & explores how these plans are affecting architecture & town planning over 350 years on.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of London’s past and present!
