The London Festival of Architecture (LFA) and Architecture LGBT+ invite you to design and deliver an uplifting installation to increase the visibility of LGBTQIA+ architects at Pride in London 2026.
Following the success of the 2025 ‘Proudspeaker’ installation, we are once again inviting architecture students, recent graduates, emerging practices and established studios across London to submit a proposal for a creative installation for the Pride in London Parade on Saturday 4 July 2026.
The winning team will receive a £5,000 budget to develop and deliver their design, offering a unique opportunity to showcase imaginative, impactful work to thousands of people across central London.
This year’s competition should respond to the London Festival of Architecture 2026 theme of ‘Belonging’, encouraging participants to explore identity, inclusion, visibility and community through design.
A Celebration of Visibility, Identity and Belonging
We are looking for bold, uplifting and highly visual proposals that celebrate LGBTQIA+ architects and give the Architects section of the parade a clear and memorable identity.
The installation should be portable and designed to move through the parade route. Proposals may be carried, worn, pushed, pulled, cycled or inflated by participants.
Designs must fit within the Pride in London route constraints, including start and finish arches measuring 4.5m high × 3m wide.
Entrants are encouraged to consider sustainability and circular economy principles throughout their proposals, alongside practical considerations such as weather resistance, ease of movement and participant safety.
About the Competition
The London Festival of Architecture is a month-long celebration of architecture and city-making taking place every June across London. Through installations, events, exhibitions and conversations, the Festival provides a platform for testing new ideas, promoting emerging talent and exploring how we shape a more equitable and sustainable city.
The 2026 Festival theme, ‘Belonging’, will explore how architecture and city-making can help people feel connected to the places, communities and identities that shape their lives.
Architecture LGBT+ is a volunteer-led, grassroots organisation that provides a safe, inclusive and prejudice-free environment for LGBTQIA+ architects and those working and studying within the profession through networking, mentoring, learning opportunities and visibility.
Together, LFA and Architecture LGBT+ are inviting the design community to create a project that celebrates visibility, representation and belonging within the built environment.
Design Requirements
Proposals should:
- Celebrate LGBTQIA+ architects
- Respond to the LFA 2026 theme of ‘Belonging’
- Deliver a sustainable and creative design
- Give the Architects section of the parade a recognisable identity
- Be suitable for movement throughout the Pride in London parade route
